Kimberly Newell ’95 (Princeton University) – After playing 5 seasons with the Jr Steelers Kim Newell went on to Major Midget Boys Hockey. Kim went on to accept a scholarship at Princeton and has recently set the all time wins record for a starting goalie. Kim has also been named to the Second-Team All-Ivy League as well as a three time recipient of the ECAC All-Academic Team. We hope to see Kimberly playing one day for Team Canada.

Jeff Wight ’95 (University of Connecticut) After playing many years for coach Brad Reynolds and the Jr Steelers Spring Program Jeff moved on from Major Midget into the BCHL. Jeff played two seasons with the Merritt Centennials in the BCHL and also was a member of Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge. Jeff then accepted a scholarship at UConn where he just completed his Sophomore Season.

Anthony Ast ’95 – Anthony Ast has next level speed from the age of 7. Anthony played all the way through with the Jr Steelers Spring hockey program as he moved through minor hockey. After a successful Major Midget season Anthony went on to play four years in the WHL with the Vancouver Giants and Medicine Hat Tigers. Fighting a run of bad luck with injuries Anthony is now pursuing his pro hockey dreams playing in Germany for Klostersee EHC. Off the ice the Canadian Diabetes Association has presented Anthony with a National Youth Volunteer Award in November, 2013 for being an advocate of diabetes.

Carmine Buono ’97 (University of Massachusetts Amherst Div. 1) – After playing two seasons for Bantam “A2” at the Burnaby Winter Club many people never thought much about Carmine’s hockey career, but they were wrong. In 2014 Carmine managed to find himself on the Powell River Kings roster in the BCHL, where he put up an impressive 26 points in 48 games as a rookie. Carmine is on the starting roster for Umass Minutemen in the 2015 – 2016 season.

Tyler Popowich ‘00 (Vancouver Giants) – 1st Round, 3rd Overall Pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. Tyler is currently playing of OHA in Penticton, BC. It is widely speculated that he will suit up for the Giants as an underage player a throughout the 15/16 season.

Matthew Leduc ‘00 (Spokane Chiefs) – 2nd Round, 31st Overall Pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. Matthew is currently playing for the Burnaby Winter Club Elite 15’s.

Baxter Anderson ’00 (Medicine Hat) – 4th Round, 83rd Overall Pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. Baxter is currently playing Major Midget for the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.

Liam Kindree ’00 (Kelowna Rockets) – 4th Round, 87th Overall Pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. Liam is currently playing Major Midget for the Vancouver Northwest Giants.

Justyn Gurney ’00 (Calgary Hitmen) – 6th Round, 117th Overall Pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. Justyn is currently playing Major Midget for the Valley West Hawks.

Ilijah Colina ’00 (Portland Winterhawks) – 8th Round, 171st Overall Pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. Ilijah is currently playing Major Midget for the Valley West Hawks.

Sean Gulka ’00 (Victoria Royals) – 9th Round, 182nd Overall Pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. Sean is currently playing Major Midget for the Northeast Chiefs.
